I HAVE NO YOGA EXPERIENCE & I DON’T DO ANY TYPE OF SPORTS; WILL THIS BE A PROBLEM TO ATTEND THE SESSIONS? ARE THERE ANY PREREQUISITE TO ATTEND?

The sessions are designed for complete beginners as well as experienced yogis. The session main goal is to let you understand your own curve and what your body needs.

We start first by relaxing and releasing poses and then we move slowly to more strengthening postures; which by the 3rd week, you will be able to do even if you are a complete beginner. Also, there is always a variation for the poses so we don’t have to go into the full pose from the 1st time.

Most of the poses that help to elevate the pain are restorative poses; which are based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, relying on several props to relax the muscles. Meaning, it is all about slowing down and opening your body through passive stretching where your muscles are allowed to relax deeply. It's a unique feeling because props, rather than your muscles, are used to support your body.

So if you don’t have any yoga experience, you will benefit from it and will be able to do the poses.

Also, if you have yoga experience it will be a new experience to feel the muscles movement and relaxation using the props.

I’M OVER 50 YEARS OLD, CAN I ATTEND THE SESSIONS, AND WILL IT BE HELPFUL?

The postures that we do during the sessions are slow paced and customized for all age groups. There is always a variation if there are any challenges in any posture and we build the strength together throughout the sessions in a slow and considerate method.

MY DAUGHTER/ SON WHO IS YOUNGER THAN 18 YEARS OLD HAS SCOLIOSIS, CAN SHE/HE ATTEND THE WORKSHOP?

As mentioned above, the programs are suitable for all age groups; however, to ensure that the young person understand the postures and do them correctly on their own, it is advised that one of the parents attends the sessions with their kid and in that case booking is done as private sessions so the parent can ask all the questions they want to be able to better help their kid and help them to develop their home practice routine.

I HAVE SCOLIOSIS, BUT I DID THE CORRECTIVE SURGERY, WILL THESE PROGRAMS BE BENEFICIAL TO ME?

Yes, the programs are intended for someone with a fused spine as well. The postures we do during the workshop will be adjusted accordingly to make sure everything is practiced safely and to get the best out of the yoga practice.

I’M A TRAINER/ YOGA TEACHER AND HAVE STUDENTS WITH SCOLIOSIS BUT I DON’T HAVE SCOLIOSIS AND I’M CURIOUS TO KNOW ABOUT IT AND WAYS TO HELP MY STUDENTS, CAN I ATTEND ANY OF THE PROGRAMS?

Yes, you are welcome to join the sessions; however, I’m not certified to train the teachers yet so the main goal would be to just give you a general idea about Scoliosis so you can understand the imbalances that happens with Scoliosis and understand when to push and when not to push someone with Scoliosis.

I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE SCOLIOSIS, BUT I DON’T HAVE ANY PAIN, HOW WILL THESE SESSIONS BE USEFUL TO ME?

It is great that you don’t feel any pain, this means that you are doing the needed to maintain the balance in the muscles and not overworking one side over the other. These sessions will help you to understand exactly what you are doing right so you can continue doing it and avoid any future activity that might put any strain on the back so you can maintain a healthy spine.

I HAVE BEEN PRACTICING YOGA FOR A LONG TIME AND IT IS ALREADY HELPING ME WITH SCOLIOSIS, HOW WILL THESE SESSIONS BE ANY DIFFERENT?

I have been practicing yoga as well but without the specific adjustment for Scoliosis for several years and it was of great help to me when I started to adjust my practice for my curve. It felt even better and I started to understand more my body. I used to get frustrated when I don’t reach a certain pose but when I understood the curve, it helped to adopt a different approach for challenging postures and work on them slowly in different ways to achieve them without injuring my back and without putting pressure on the spine.

I’M INTERESTED IN THE WORKSHOP BUT I’M NOT SURE I CAN COMMIT TO A DAILY PRACTICE. CAN I ATTEND ONLY 1 OR 2 SESSIONS?

These sessions are intended to help you in developing your own practice at home. it is like a journey, we will need at least 4 sessions to develop your complete practice as we take it gradually and during each session, you will understand more your curve and understand as how how to adjust in your daily activities including how your sit, how your sleep and how you walk. It depends from one person to another but generally to get the full benefits of the sessions, you will need at least 4 sessions that can be taken over 2 months.
The daily practice are customized based on your lifestyle so if you have little time to practice on daily basis, we find a way that suits you and the practice can be as short as a 10 mins daily practice.

THERE ARE DIFFERENT PATTERNS IN SCOLIOSIS, SO HOW COME YOU CAN GIVE THE SAME SESSION TO DIFFERENT PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT PATTERNS?

The therapy sessions are customized based on each individual need and each individual curve. Not all scoliosis cases are the same and that is why in each posture we take time to explore and adjust for different patterns and in some cases the adjustment that would work with someone with a right thoracic curve for example would not work with someone else with the same curve. So during the session, I help you to listen and understand what you body needs by exploring different adjustment methods that would work for best for you.

ARE YOUR PROGRAMS INTENDED TO HELP ME REVERSE MY CURVE OR STOP IT FROM PROGRESSING?

My programs are not intended to reverse the curve and I can’t promise you that your curve will stop progressing.

In yoga with Scoliosis, it is up to each individual to work on themselves to see the progress. Meaning, to be able to feel any progress, you need to commit on doing yoga on regular basis by attending yoga classes or, if you attend the 3 weeks workshop to practice at home on regular basis and not only to depend on attending the programs.

The 3 weeks program goal is to help you develop a home practice and help you to self adjust when you attend any yoga class so it is up to each individual to continue working on themselves to see any progress.

It is also important to have an X-ray check up every 6 months or annually to make sure the exercises you are doing are actually beneficial and to monitor your curve.
