WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

Gain back control of your life and live a healthy and fulfilling life through Yoga Therapy!

WHAT IS YOGA THERAPY?

Yoga therapy according to the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) is “the process of empowering individuals to progress toward improved health and well-being through the application of the teachings and practices of Yoga”. IAYT is the Educational Standards for the Training of Yoga Therapists.

According to Georg Feuerstein, Ph.D “Yoga therapy is of modern coinage and represents a first effort to integrate traditional yogic concepts and techniques with Western medical and psychological knowledge. Whereas traditional Yoga is primarily concerned with personal transcendence on the part of a "normal" or healthy individual, Yoga therapy aims at the holistic treatment of various kinds of psychological or somatic dysfunctions ranging from back problems to emotional distress. Both approaches, however, share an understanding of the human being as an integrated body-mind system, which can function optimally only when there is a state of dynamic balance.”

Yoga Therapy uses individualized techniques that you can use for a lifetime.

During your session, different yoga tools are used to provide you with a tailor made and customized self practice that that you can safely do at home. This practice is specifically designed for your condition/s to help you live a healthy and fulfilling life.

It works holistically; meaning that it works on mental, physical and energetic aspects.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

I meet with you once every 10 to 15 days. During the first session, I do several assessments and I work with you on creating a self practice that you can safely do at home. The first session is usually around 2 hours. In the 2nd session, we go through the practice and I get your feedback on how the practice made you feel and we adjust accordingly. By the 4th session, you should have a complete practice that you can do for lifetime. The sessions after the 1st one take around 1 hour to 1.5 hour.

WHAT IS REQUIRED FROM MY SIDE?

It is essential that you commit to the home practice in order to feel the powerful effect of the yoga therapy and its transformation.

HOW LONG DOES THE HOME PRACTICE TAKE?

Usually the self practice takes from 20 to 30 minutes at home. The tools used are breathing, movements, meditation and yoga nidra.

I HAVE A VERY BUSY SCHEDULE AND IT WILL NOT BE POSSIBLE FOR ME TO COMMIT TO A DAILY PRACTICE OF 20 OR 30 MINS.

I also work together with you to make the home practice as easy as possible to commit to, meaning that it will be also customized based on your schedule so we can develop several practices one for your busy days and one for the not so busy. One when you are tired and one when you feel active. So everything is customized based on your needs.
